Trials by Mail

We are pleased to have you try our clarinets! Learn more about the procedure below for scheduling your trial.
“RMS provided exactly the instrument selection process I was looking for. They understand the process from the point of view of the performer and can offer what many dealers cannot. The instruments were hand-selected and had comprehensive adjustments so I could make the best decision possible. I doubt you will find a better selection service anywhere!”
“I couldn't be happier with my new set of clarinets. Heather and Alcides are fantastic musicians, so they pick only the top inventory to sell. This makes the whole experience very easy and stress-free. If you are looking for a new instrument(s), they will not disappoint!”
“My experience with RMS has been the most seamless and enjoyable instrument purchase I have ever made. Their instruments were all beautifully set up, which made choosing an instrument far easier! I cannot recommend them enough!”

RMS Trial Procedure

Schedule your trial

Contact us to schedule your trial! RMS clarinet trials are 5 days from the day you receive the package. Please schedule your trial period in consideration of your rehearsal and/or clarinet lesson schedule.

Pay your deposit

Before shipping the clarinets, we require a deposit for the price of the most expensive instrument plus the cost of shipping. This is usually done via an emailed Square link for online credit card payment or wire transfer (which gives you free shipping).

Make your selection

Once you receive the instruments you have five days to make your selection. Afterwards, please contact us so we can provide you with a return shipping label.

Ship back the rest

Pack the remaining instrument(s) in the original box with the original packing material. We will send you the return label via email so you can drop the package off at UPS.

Good to know:

  • In order to provide the best service to all of our customers, we maintain a trial policy of 5 days.  For each day instruments are kept after the ending trial date, we charge a $50 rental fee.  (Packages must be postmarked no later than the 6th day of the trial.)
  • When making a purchase, Georgia residents are also required to pay sales tax of 6% on the price of the instrument.
  • If you are trying one clarinet, we require a deposit for the price of the clarinet, plus shipping one way.  If you are trying two (or more) clarinets, we require a deposit for the price of one clarinet, plus the cost of shipping two ways.
  • Deposits by wire transfer or check receive free shipping.  (In the unlikely event that everything is returned (no purchased made), then the deposit will be refunded within 5 days of RMS receiving the package, less the original cost of shipping both ways and a 1.5% re-stocking fee on the price of each instrument. If you are trying only one clarinet, the re-stocking fee is .75%.)
  • Deposits by credit card can be made by Square link via email.  (In the unlikely event that everything is returned (no purchase made) then the deposit will be refunded less the cost of shipping both ways and a 3.5% re-stocking fee on the price of each instrument.  This includes the credit card fee that RMS incurs when originally charging the credit card- which is non-refundable to us.  If you are trying only one clarinet, the re-stocking fee is 2%.)
  • All sales are final, so make your selection carefully.
  • RMS does not offer payment plans, however financing is available through Synchrony Bank and First Mutual.  More information/application can be found HERE.

In-Person Trial Appointments

  • If you are interested in purchasing a clarinet at our studio in Atlanta, please contact us to make an appointment.  Our studio trial fee deposit is $90 to try Bb, A or Eb clarinets and $125 for bass clarinets.  This fee is credited towards the purchase of an instrument and is non-refundable.  The deposit is paid by credit card (via online Square link) at the time of scheduling.  Any cancellation must be made at least 48 hours before the appointment in order to have the fee refunded
  • If needed, you are allowed to take two instruments out on trial after visiting.  The trial period for these instruments is four days, and we require a deposit for the price of the most expensive instrument.
  • In the event that you send the clarinets back without making a purchase, a 1.5% or 3.5% re-stocking fee applies to each instrument you took out on trial (in addition to the initial studio trial fee), according to whether you made the deposit with personal check (1.5%) or credit card (3.5%).
  • Also bear in mind that Georgia tax of 6% applies to these in-store purchases.
  • Studio trials are limited to 2 hours.  RMS is not a clarinet showroom but rather a studio where we set up specific clarinets according to each trial appointment.
If you have any questions about the trial process, don’t hesitate to contact us! /  470-545-9803.
We are pleased to offer instrument financing through Synchrony Bank and United Midwest Bank.  You can find the online application here.
